true love 

where can you be found...

in young love's first kisses,

heart pounding passion

consuming desire?

you evade us

as we look for you --

like a fading sunset melts

into black darkness...

perhaps it's our eyes,

we can't see your truth--

you are not found in the feeling

of falling and soaring...

you, true love, can be seen on the Cross,

found in the eyes of self denial--

the lowest of duties, humility,

serving, giving, helping.

faithful, loving

when it hurts, when it's difficult,

preferring others, laying down self,

never failing, and enduring.

you exist in the ordinary and

the extraordinary-- caring for

the sick, dying, broken, wounded,

always believing and redeeming.
