Weekend Rest: A Prayer of Contentment

I Timothy 6:6
"but godliness with contentment is great gain."

A Prayer of Contentment
by J. lyn Jones

Thank you Lord for a place of prayer, to talk to You, the all seeing, all knowing, grace giving God.

Thank you Lord for my spouse, my life's journey companion, tried and true confidant, friend and lover,

Thank you Lord for time with my children, the messes, paint splatters, glitter trails, joyful laughs, creative awakenings,  & delightful noise of life.

Thank you for relationships, the tears, the laughs, the grief, the growth.

Thank you for friends, kind loving, listening souls,

Thank you for difficult responsibilities that give challenge and purpose.

Thank you for sickness, for in my weakness, I rely on You.

Thank you for the blessing of work, for energy and strength to complete a goal.

Thank you for dirty dishes, for the good food we ate last night, and please let me help those who know hunger.

Thank you Lord for bills, for life is expensive and death has no currency.

Thank you Lord for the blessing of this day, this moment, and this breath.

Thank you for being the center of my joy and filling my life to the overflow.

Thank you for showing me the secret, that through life's stress and imperfections
I can be content.

Thank you for teaching me to be content.

Wednesday Inspiration: Psalms 119:9-10

"How can a young man keep his way?  By living according to your word.  I seek you with all my heart;  do not let me stray from your commands." Psalm 119:9-10

Tuesday Treasures: Smile

What sunshine is to flowers, smiles are to humanity.  They are but trifles to be sure, scattered along life's pathway.  The good they do is inconceivable. --Joseph Addison

Miracle Monday: Healed by God

The summer of 2009, my in-laws took a mini vacation to South Florida. During this trip my healthy 80 year old father-in-law became deathly ill.  Papa couldn't eat anything and had severe abdominal pain. After shopping with his family, he went back to the motel room.  He became extremely cold and was losing consciousness. His wife called the ambulance and they rushed him to the hospital.  The hospital admitted him and put him in a special care unit.  Papa doesn't remember a lot of what happened at the hospital as he was in and out of consciousness.  When we went to see him we were shocked.  He face looked ashen and he looked like he was dying.  He was diagnosed with E coli which can be extremely fatal to the elderly.  Everyone thought that this could possibly be the end of Papa's journey.  That night, before we left, we started to pray for him.  We had just joined hands when a minister from our church assembly in Orlando, just "happened" to be in the neighborhood and came to pray for him also.  We all joined in prayer.  As we prayed the prayer of faith we could feel the presence of God fill the room.  The prayer of faith was prayed and instead of declining and possibly dying, like the doctors thought, Papa began to improve.  In a couple of days he was feeling better and released from the hospital.  This Memorial Day, Papa is still alive and thriving.  As a family, we are thankful for the miracle working power of God.

Psalm 46:1 KJV

"God is our refuge and strength a very present help in trouble."
